Floor Plan Features
Everything you need to create professional floor plans in your browser
Drawing Tools
Gridsnap's wall drawing tool snaps to a configurable grid so every line lands exactly where you intend it. Endpoints auto-connect to adjacent walls, keeping your floor plan watertight with no gaps or overlaps. Doors and windows are placed directly on walls with configurable frame depth and swing position. Smart hit detection lets you select, move, or delete any element without accidentally touching a neighbouring one — ideal for dense plans where walls, doors, and furniture sit close together.
- Wall tool with adjustable thickness and snap-to-grid alignment
- Single, double, and sliding door types with configurable frame depth and hinge position
- Window tool with controllable sill depth and placement along any wall segment
- Smart hit detection prioritises the element closest to the cursor
- Endpoint snapping automatically joins wall ends for a clean, closed plan
- Configurable grid size (e.g. 50 mm, 100 mm, 250 mm)
Furniture Catalog
Drop in furnishings from a built-in catalog of 30+ items spanning every room in the house. Each piece can be rotated in 1° increments and resized to match your exact specification, so a 2 400 mm sofa stays 2 400 mm on the plan. Corner sofas render as a true L-shape, giving an accurate footprint for tight living areas. Group multiple items to move or copy them together — useful when staging the same layout across multiple floors. See use cases for how interior designers and homeowners put the catalog to work.
- 30+ catalog items: sofas, armchairs, dining tables, beds, desks, kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, and more
- Rotation in 1° increments via handle or numeric input
- Custom width and depth sizing per item
- Corner sofa with L-shaped geometry
- Box-select multiple items and move or copy as a group
- Duplicate items with a single keyboard shortcut
Dimensions & Annotations
Dimension lines anchor directly to wall endpoints and update automatically whenever a wall is moved or resized — no manual re-entry required. Labels render at scale so they remain readable at every zoom level and at any export size. Text annotations can be placed anywhere on the canvas for room names, area notes, or material callouts. All measurements are stored and displayed in millimetres for professional accuracy consistent with architectural drawing conventions.
- Wall-anchored dimension lines that reposition when walls move
- Automatic length calculation in millimetres
- Scale-aware rendering: dimensions stay legible at every zoom level
- Free-placement text labels for room names and notes
- Dimension style (tick marks, arrowheads) consistent across exports
Multi-Floor Support
Add as many floor tabs as your building requires and switch between them instantly. Activate the ghost-floor overlay to see the floor above or below at reduced opacity, making it easy to align stairwells, structural walls, and service runs across levels. Staircases placed on one floor link to the corresponding landing on the adjacent floor. Each floor can be renamed, reordered, or deleted independently. Multi-floor plans are a good fit for the contractor and architect use cases.
- Unlimited floor tabs per project
- Ghost-floor overlay shows adjacent floor at adjustable opacity
- Linked staircase objects span two floors automatically
- Per-floor rename, reorder, and delete
- Each floor exported as a separate sheet in PDF or as a separate DXF file
Export: DXF, PDF, PNG
Gridsnap's DXF export organises every element onto named CAD layers so the file opens cleanly in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, LibreCAD, or any other DXF-compatible software. The PDF export adds a title block with project name and date, a printed scale bar, and supports A4, A3, and A2 page sizes at standard scales (1:50, 1:100, 1:200) or scale-to-fit. PNG export produces a high-resolution raster image suitable for presentations, property listings, or sharing with clients who don't have CAD tools. All export formats are included free with no watermark.
- DXF with layers: WALLS, DOORS, WINDOWS, DIMENSIONS, TEXT
- PDF with title block (project name, date) and printed scale bar
- PDF page sizes: A4, A3, A2
- PDF scales: 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, and scale-to-fit
- PNG high-resolution raster export
- No watermark on any export format
Workflow & Productivity
Every tool in Gridsnap has a keyboard shortcut so your hands rarely need to leave the keyboard. Full undo/redo history means mistakes are never permanent. Copy and paste works across floors, letting you reproduce a bathroom layout on every level of a multi-storey plan in seconds. Import a scanned or photographed plan as a reference image overlay, scale it to the canvas, and trace over it to produce an accurate digital drawing. The move tool accepts a direct distance input for nudging elements by an exact number of millimetres.
- Keyboard shortcuts for all drawing tools (W for wall, D for door, F for furniture, etc.)
- Unlimited undo and redo
- Copy and paste across floors within the same project
- Reference image overlay: import JPG/PNG, set scale, trace over it
- Box-select for multi-element operations
- Move tool with numeric distance input (move exactly 300 mm, for example)
