The expert layer

What $19 and $9 unlock.

The same eight things either way. The pass and the subscription differ only in how long you keep them.

01
Pro-depth plan check

Circulation, door swings and clearances, daylight, kitchen and bathroom practice, room minimums — the rules an architect would flag.

02
AI notes & one-click fixes

Ask any finding what it means and get an architect’s note on your plan. Unambiguous repairs apply in one click.

03
Describe your home, get a plan

A sentence becomes a drawn plan — walls, doors, windows and furniture — checked against every rule before you see it.

04
Furnish a room

Name a room and get a full, sensible layout, placed flush to the walls each piece belongs on.

05
Auto-measure

Dimension chains along every façade and every opening, anchored so the numbers stay true as you keep editing.

06
Design options

Keep two or more schemes of one plan, switch between them in a click, and compare their areas and quantities side by side.

07
Version history

Browse and restore automatic snapshots, name the ones worth keeping, and open any of them as a new option.

08
Every new pro tool

Expert features ship regularly, and they land in whichever plan you are on.

Free users still see how many expert findings a plan has, and in what category — the count is never hidden, only the detail and the fixes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Gridsnap really free?

Yes. Drawing and exporting are free forever — 3D, elevations, multi-floor support and vector PDF/DXF export included, with no watermarks and no trial limits. The paid layer adds the expert part on top: pro-depth plan checks, AI notes and fixes, generating a plan from a written brief, unlimited synced cloud projects, design options and version history. You can buy that for one project ($19 once, 90 days) or ongoing ($9/month or $90/year).

What is the One Project pass?

A single $19 payment that unlocks everything in Pro for 90 days, and then stops. Most people design one home, once — a monthly bill asks you to plan for a habit you will not have, so the pass exists for the person doing one renovation, extension or new build. There is no renewal, no card kept on file and nothing to cancel; when the 90 days end you drop back to the free plan, and your plans, exports and DXF files stay yours. If you need longer, or a second project later, buy another one.

Should I buy the pass or subscribe?

Buy the pass if you have one project in front of you and a decision to make about it — moving walls, an extension, a kitchen or bathroom you want checked before anyone quotes. Subscribe if you keep several plans on the go, or if you draw for other people: the ongoing plan syncs unlimited projects and keeps their version history for as long as you keep it.

What does the pro plan check find?

The free check catches hard errors like overlapping furniture or furniture inside a wall. Pro adds the rules an architect would apply: walking routes that must reach every door and staircase, door swings and clearances kept free on both sides, toilet and storage clearances, the kitchen work triangle and worktop landings, tall furniture in front of windows, beds under low windows, doors that swing into each other, rooms below sensible size minimums, and rooms with too little daylight.

What does "describe your home" do?

You type a sentence — "3-bedroom single-storey house, about 120 m², open-plan kitchen and living, entrance from the north" — and Gridsnap draws it: walls, doors, windows and furniture in real millimetres. The AI only reads the brief into a room program; a deterministic solver produces the geometry, and the layout must pass every plan-check rule before it is shown. You can re-roll for a different arrangement for free, then edit the result like any other plan.

Are the AI features limited?

Pro includes 200 AI credits per calendar month, which is far more than normal use: explaining a finding costs 1 credit, furnishing a room 2, and reading a new brief 5. Everything else — re-rolling a generated layout, one-click fixes, and the whole plan check — is deterministic, runs locally and costs nothing.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Gridsnap works instantly in your browser with no signup required. Creating a free account is optional — it adds cloud sync for your most recent project. Pro syncs unlimited projects and keeps their version history.

What happens if I cancel Pro, or my pass runs out?

You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for — or, with a pass, for the full 90 days. After that, your most recent project stays synced and editable, and every other project remains available as a view-only copy you can open, edit locally and export — your data is never locked away.

Where is my data stored?

By default, everything stays in your browser's local storage — nothing leaves your device. If you sign in and save a plan to the cloud, it is stored in your account so you can open it on other devices; plans stay private to you either way.

Can I export my floor plans?

Yes, on every plan. Gridsnap exports true vector PDFs with title blocks, scale bars and room schedules, layered DXF files that open in AutoCAD and ArchiCAD, and high-resolution PNGs.

Can my architect or builder use the output?

That's the point. PDFs are measurable at standard scales (1:50, 1:100, 1:200) and DXF exports carry proper CAD layers, so professionals can take your plan straight into their own tools.
